EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville women’s tennis team picked up its second-straight victory, defeating Eastern Illinois by a 5-2 final at the Tri-State Athletic Club on Saturday evening.
“This weekend was a total team effort,” head coach
Nick Mueller said. “We had several girls step up for us.”
The Aces (6-3) swept all three doubles matches.
Dora Kotsiou and
Natasha James picked up an 8-3 win over Janelle Prisner and Merritt Whitley at the No. 1 spot.
Emily Richardson and
Kelsey Costales defeated the duo of Amanda Dibbs and Jennifer Kim, 8-2 at the two spot while
Aleks Dzakula and
Jessica Raatz grabbed an 8-2 win over Kristen Laird and Annie Egan in the third flight.
In singles action, Evansville won four out of six matches. In the second flight, Dzakula took down Whitley (6-0, 6-1), James picked up a win over Kim (6-3, 6-2), freshman
Mina Milovic had one of her top performances, defeating Dibbs (6-3, 6-2) and Gaby Fifer finished the night with a win over Laird (6-4, 6-0). Kotsiou and Raatz lost their singles matches, though Raatz lost in three sets to Egan.
Evansville will be back in action next Saturday, traveling to SIU Edwardsville for a 3 p.m. match.
