Day 1 Final Results
OXFORD, Ohio – The University of Evansville men’s swimming and diving team finished the first day of the 2012 Mid-American Conference Championships ranked seventh with 26 points as a team. Ball State ranks above the Aces, earning sixth place with 72 points while Eastern Michigan leads all seven teams with 236 total points.
In today’s final heats, the 200-yard freestyle relay team consisting of
Will Spradley,
Alex Seward,
Jake Harrington and
Kyle Tiemann placed sixth with a final time of 1:23.79.
Despite no individual swimmers making it into the final heats for UE, several Aces swam well during today’s preliminary rounds.
Tiemamn just barely missed a Top-18 finish in the 50-yard prelims, touching in at 21.02, just .01 second behind the 18
th place time. Spradley was closely behind, finishing the 50- in 21.46 to take 23
rd place.
Harrington finished in 22
nd place in the 500-free with a time of 4:45.78.
Garrett Johnson swam the event in 4:47.47 to finish 24
th.
Justin Shotwell had the Aces’ best time in the 200-yard individual medley, touching in at 1:56.60 to finish in 27
th place.
The Aces will return to the pool tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. for preliminary heats in the 400 IM, 100-butterfly, 200-free, 100-breaststroke, 100-backstroke and three-meter diving. Tomorrow’s finals are set to begin at 7:00 p.m. tomorrow night.
