EVANSVILLE, Ind. – With the State Farm MVC Championship just over a week away, the University of Evansville women’s tennis will finish up the regular season this weekend, traveling to Bradley and Illinois State.
Bradley is first up on Saturday at 1 p.m. before UE makes the quick trip to Normal, Ill. to square off against the Redbirds at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
Evansville improved to 12-7 on the season with a decisive 8-1 win at Southern Indiana on Wednesday. While the doubles pairings of
Dora Kotsiou and
Natasha James along with
Aleks Dzakula and
Jessica Raatz continued their rolls in doubles play, a few other Aces put up successful efforts in the win.
A pair of freshmen came out on top in their efforts at USI.
Emily Richardson picked up victories in doubles and singles while
Gaby Fifer topped Logan Ackerman in two sets.
The Braves have struggled thus far in 2012, posting a 4-16 mark and an 0-8 record at home. They are also winless in five MVC attempts. Last time out, Bradley picked up a 6-0 win at Western Illinois but in their last weekend of conference action, they were shut out by Creighton and Wichita State, falling 7-0 both times.
Illinois State has put up a 9-10 mark overall while coming out victorious in three out of five league matches. After falling by a 7-0 margin against Wichita State last weekend, ISU rebounded with a 6-1 win over Creighton.
After Sunday’s match, the Aces will prepare for the MVC Championship, which will be hosted by Creighton on April 27-29.
