Griffin Wood was named to the MVC Scholar Athlete First Team

Wood And Sainz Honored By MVC

ST. LOUIS – University of Evansville men’s golfers Griffin Wood and Michael Sainz were honored as Scholar-Athlete by the Missouri Valley Conference for their work on the course and in the classroom.
 
Boonville, Ind. native Griffin Wood was named to the First Team for the second time in his career.  Wood put forth a 3.35 GPA as a management major while excelling in his golf game.  The senior led the way for UE with a 74.41 stroke average while recording three top five finishes.  His top outing came in the fall opening Fossum Invitational where he tied for third on the strength of a 218.  His low round of 66 came in the third and final round of the fall Butler Invitational.
 
Sainz was named an Honorable Mention, accumulating a 3.28 GPA as a Mechanical Engineering major.  Also a senior, Sainz posted the No. 2 average on the squad, averaging 75.26 strokes per round.  He notched a pair of top six finishes in the fall with his best effort, a tie for fifth, coming at the University of Dayton Invitational.
