EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville swimmer Colin Gray has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District men’s at-large team for the third year in a row, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), and announced by the organization today.

The Capital One Academic All-District honors recognize the nation’s top-student-athletes for their combined performances, athletically and in the classroom.

Gray, a senior from Carmel, Ind., has now represented Evansville on District Five‘s first team in all three years that he has been eligible for the award. Last year he was also named to the 2011 All-American third team after receiving the All-District award.

Gray finished his collegiate career as a three-time Academic All-MAC first team selection. He held the Aces’ season-best time in the 200-yard breaststroke in all four years of his career and led the team in the 100-breast in all but his sophomore year.  This year, Gray placed 18th in the 100-breast at the 2012 MAC Championships and finished regular season ranked 19th in the MAC in the 200-breast. He was also named the recipient of the 2012 Ralph H. Coleman Award, which is given to one outstanding male athlete at UE each year.  Gray graduated in May with a 4.0 cumulative GPA, earning a mathematics degree in actuarial science.

As a member of the 2012 All-District team, Gray will now advance to the Capital One All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
