Game Notes
EVANSVILE, Ind. – The University of Evansville softball team will wrap up the 2012 regular season and fight to keep its post-season hopes alive with a three-game home series against Indiana State. The Aces are set to take on the Sycamores in a doubleheader on Saturday before closing out the series with a single game on Sunday. Both days will begin at noon.
Sunday will also serve as Senior Day for the Aces’ senior class.

Ashleigh Rahming will be honored on the field at 11:15 a.m. before Sunday’s game.
The Missouri Valley Conference regular season will end in dramatic fashion, as all three bottom teams will be fighting to secure the eighth and final spot in the MVC Tournament next week. Entering the weekend in 10
th place, Evansville is a game and a half behind the Sycamores, who are a half a game behind 8
th place Wichita State. In order for Evansville to keep its tournament hopes alive, the Aces must win all three games against the Sycamores. However, if Wichita State manages just one win in its season finale against Creighton, the Shockers would clinch the tournament bid despite a sweep by the Aces.
Evansville (15-36) enters the weekend on a four-game losing streak, after most recently dropping a single game at Western Kentucky on Thursday. Sophomore
Niki Rahming led UE’s offense in the 3-0 loss, going 2-for-3 with a pair of singles on the night.
Freshman
Kayla Fortner still leads the team’s offense on the year, ranking third in the Valley with a .372 season average. Fortner is the Aces’ leader in nearly every offensive category, notching 54 hits, 17 doubles, 5 RBI and 20 walks so far this season.

Scouting the Sycamores
The ninth place Sycamores enter the weekend a game and a half ahead of the Aces with a MVC record of 6-17. Indiana State’s six Valley wins came in the form of single wins against Southern Illinois, Bradley, Illinois State and Missouri State and a pair of wins over Wichita State to mark the only series that the Sycamores have won this year.
Hitting:
The Sycamores are batting .236 as a team with three hitters batting over .300. Megan Stone leads the squad with a .329 average, notching 46 hits and 26 runs scored this season. Shelby Wilson and Hailey Tinsman, batting .324 and .321 respectively, are tied for the team’s run production, tallying 20 RBI with one home run each. Hitting .219, Alyssa Heller has totaled a team-best four home runs and owns a .469 slugging percentage on the season.
Pitching:
With three arms on staff, Lindsey Beisser has seen most of the work by far this year, tossing 206.2 of the Sycamores’ 328.1 innings so far. Beisser enters the weekend with a 2.00 ERA, notching 168 strikeouts and 71 walks and compiling a 12-19 record in 37 appearances.
