Charlie Macias is a national champion after helping the Crew Juniors (OH-S) claim the Under-19 Boys McGuire Cup for the second time in three years after an exciting come-from-behind victory over GSA Phoenix 96 Red (GA) Saturday evening. The match was played in front of a standing-room-only crowd and live FOX Soccer channel audience at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C.
The 77th edition of the McGuire Cup had all the elements of a classic match, which included a second half downpour and two world class goals from the Crew to overcome a first half deficit to take home the championship, 2-1.

The US Youth Soccer National Championship Series provides more than 10,000 teams from US Youth Soccer's 55 State Associations the opportunity to showcase their abilities against the best in the nation while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and fair play. The yearlong competition begins with over 185,000 players in the US Youth Soccer State Championships. These champions and selected wildcard teams advance to compete in one of four the US Youth Soccer Regional Championships. Champions (U-14 through U-19) from each regional event advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championships.
A defender for the Aces, Macias will return to campus this fall for his sophomore season. In his rookie year campaign, the Westerville, Ohio native played in all 17 matches with six starts, totaling one goal, two points, nine shots, and three shots on goal. He also helped the Aces’ defense record three shutouts in 2011.
Evansville kicks off exhibition play Aug. 15 vs. UIndy and Aug. 19 vs. Wisconsin. The Aces open the 2012 regular season Friday, Aug. 24 when they play host to Lipscomb University at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
