EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Fresh off of another solid performance last weekend at EIU, the University of Evansville cross country squads will take part in the Indiana Intercollegiate on Friday afternoon in Terre Haute.
 
The meet will get underway at 2:30 p.m. CT at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.  Several schools from all divisions in the state of Indiana are set to participate including Indiana, Purdue, Butler, Indiana State, Southern Indiana and others.
 
Evansville has gotten off to a strong start in 2012 as a runner from both the men’s and women’s squad has received an MVC award in the first two weeks of the season.  Following the UE Mid-America Opener, Cody Stein garnered Men’s Runner of the Week honors with a fourth place finish in the event.
 
On the women’s side, junior Kelby Jenkins has finished first in both races this season.  She took top honors in the Mid-America Opener before winning the Walt Crawford EIU Panther Open last Friday. She completed the 5K race in 17:56.00, just the second sub-18 minute time in UE history.
 
Freshman Elizabeth Kingshott has a pair of top ten finishes to her credit early in her career.  She took third-place honors at the UE opener before coming home tenth last weekend.
 
Cody Stein has paced the men’s team in each race thus far with finishes of fourth and sixth while Josh Genet has also logged top ten efforts.  Genet took fifth in the first race before coming in eighth at EIU.
