First Round Results
EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – #Sydney Skiles# sits just one shot off of the lead as the University of Evansville stands in fourth place following the first round of the SIUE Intercollegiate at Sunset Hills Country Club.
Skiles shot a 7-over 79 in the opening round to stand just one shot out of the top spot. Cassie Rushing of Southern Illinois and Savanna Schubert of Lipscomb share the lead following day one.
Six strokes behind Skiles sits
Dana Hayden. The Evansville native posted an 85 and sits in a tie for 14
th place. Freshman
Paige Crafton, who led UE in its opener at the Redbird Invitational, carded an 86 to tie for 20
th.
Cathy Doyle recorded an 89 on Monday to sit in a tie for 38
th while
Kelly Lamarche finished day one of action with a 97. Freshman
Rachel Marchi shot a 115 on Monday playing as an individual.
Southern Illinois sits atop the team leaderboard with a 326. The Salukis hold an 11-stroke advantage over Lipscomb, who notched a 337 on Monday. The second through fifth place teams are separated by just four shots as Nebraska Omaha sits in third with a 338. The Aces finished Monday with a 339 while SIU Edwardsville rounds out the top five with a 341.
The tournament will wrap up with 18 holes of play on Tuesday morning. Play will commence with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
