LOUISVILLE, Ky. – #Kelby Jenkins
and Josh Genet# were the top performers as the University of Evansville cross country teams competed in the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday morning.
Jenkins continued her early-season success as she picked up an impressive third place finish in the blue race. That event featured 337 runners from institutions such as West Virginia and Penn State. Jenkins finished with a time of 17:54.26, bettering her previous personal record by about two seconds. She set her previous top time in this year’s EIU Panther Open, which she won.
Senior
Lauren Zeabart posted a solid 34
th-place run on the strength of a 18:39.76 in the 5K event.
Elizabeth Kingshott took 86
th with her time of 19:08.99.
Alyssa Moran (119
th) and
Nicole Kreuzman (145
th) wrapped up UE’s top five runners in the event. As a team, the Aces finished 11
th out of 43 teams.
In the men’s blue 8K race, it was
Josh Genet leading the way for the Purple Aces as he placed 21
st with a 25:67.76. That time was five seconds off of his top career effort. Genet’s effort in the event was out of 362 runners.
Cody Stein finished in 36
th with a time of 25:44.82. They were followed by
Andrew Barrett (62nd) and
Jon Ashby (127th).
The silver event for the women saw 339 participants as UE came in 16
th out of 42 schools.
Maria Lynn was the top Ace as she ran a time of 20:06.37 to wrap up the race in 31
st.
Loren Oboikovitz took 92
nd with a 21:00.03 while
Kirsten Perrey was less than a second behind.
The Tennessee Tech Invitational will be the next race for UE as they will run next Friday at 3 p.m. in Baxter, Tenn.
