EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has recognized eight players from the University of Evansville softball team for the 2011-2012 academic school year for their hard work inside the classroom.

The players honored included Allison Aguilera, Amy Gaertner, and Maggie Little, three seniors from the 2012 season, as well as current seniors Kendall Kautz and Halie Malone. Juniors Emily Morris and Nicole Rahming were also honored along with sophomore Mariah Ferguson. The award is given to any player by a member coach who achieved a 3.50 grade point average or higher during the 2011-2012 academic year.

“We are tremendously happy about our players receiving the academic honors,” said head coach Mark Redburn. “Not only do they work hard as softball players, but they work hard inside the classroom as well. It just shows how important our academics are to us, as well as our success on the field.”
