FULL MVC RELEASE
ST. LOUIS – University of Evansville freshman midfielder
Landon Souder was named the Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week in an announcement made by the league office Monday afternoon.
Â
Souder scored the first two goals of his collegiate career to help lead Evansville to a pair of wins at Kentucky and Loyola. The Harrodsburg, Ky., native scored his first collegiate goal in a return to his home state, as he found the back of the net in the ninth minute in Tuesday night's 2-1 win over the Wildcats.Â
Â
Souder followed up Tuesday's performance by scoring in the 37th minute against the Ramblers to tie the match at 1-1, in what would eventually be a 5-2 win for UE. Souder scored his pair of goals on the only two shots he attempted on the week and has now scored five points during his freshman campaign.
Â
Evansville will be back in action Saturday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m., when it hosts Missouri State in a pivotal MVC match for both squads. Saturday night's contest will serve as the Aces' annual "Kick for the Cure" event.
