DAYTON, Ohio – Junior
Cathy Doyle finished with a 5-over 75 in the opening round of the Dayton Fall Invitational as the Purple Aces women's golf team sits in third place entering Tuesday's final round at NCR Country Club.
Doyle sits just two strokes off of the lead as Maggie Prokop of Dayton posted the top round on Monday with a 73. Three players are tied for second with a 74 while Doyle is one of six players tied for fifth place with a 75.
Sophomore
Paige Crafton shot a 77 and is one of four players tied for 13
th place.
Dana Hayden carded a 78 and sits in a tie for 17
th overall. Rounding out Evansville's squad were freshman
Kayla Katterhenry (81 – tied for 39
th) and
Maggie Camp (87 – tied for 76
th).
Sydney Skiles finished the opening day with a round of 88 playing as an individual.
With just 18 holes remaining, the Aces sit in a strong position on the leaderboard. Detroit leads the way with a 306 while the next three schools are within six strokes. Dayton sits in second with a 310 while Evansville is in third, one shot behind the Flyers. Chicago State is fourth with a 312 while Robert Morris and the B Team for Dayton round out the top five with a 317.
