EVANSVILLE, Ind. – After an impressive victory in its season opener, the University of Evansville women's basketball team will continue its season Monday night at 7 p.m., when the Purple Aces host Murray State at the Ford Center on Military Appreciation Night.

As a team, the Aces shot 43.3 percent from the field, while holding the Panthers to a 25.0 percent clip and outscored EIU, 53-25, in the second half. The 35-point margin of victory was the largest by an Evansville team since the 2001-02 season and the 81 points by the Aces was the most for UE under third-year head coach
Oties Epps. Evansville forced 30 turnovers in Friday night's win, racking up 17 steals and scoring 35 points off of those turnovers.
Murray State (1-0) was also impressive in its season opener, as the Racers defeated Robert Morris-Springfield, 101-44, and placed six players in double figures. Keiona Kirby led MSU with 25 points on a 10-for-15 shooting effort and Jessica Winfrey added a double-double by scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Janssen Starks also filled the box score with 11 points, six rebounds and four steals.
Murray State shot 43.8 percent from the field as a team, knocking down 35 of its 80 attempts. The Racers sank 14 three-pointers, scored 19 points in transition and added 29 points off of 23 RMU-Springfield turnovers. Defensively, MSU held the Eagles to an 18.6 percent shooting percentage, including a 4-for-30 effort in the second half.
Evansville and Murray State have met 30 times on the hardwood, with the Racers holding a, 19-11, advantage in the all-time series. The Aces have won six of the last 10 meetings, but MSU defeated UE last season, 76-62, last season in Murray, Ky.
