Aces Open Road Swing at Missouri

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
The University of Evansville women's basketball team will be on the road for the first time this season, when the Purple Aces travel to Missouri Thursday night for a 7 p.m. game against the host Tigers at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Mo.
 
Evansville (1-1) will be looking to bounce back from a 62-50 setback to Murray State, as the Aces shot just 19.5 percent from the field in Monday night's loss to the Racers.  Junior Mallory Ladd posted her ninth-career double-double in the loss by scoring 13 points and grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds, while freshman Sara Dickey finished in double figures with 12 points.  Including Ladd, four UE players tallied at least nine rebounds in the loss, as Evansville pulled down a combined 66 rebounds, falling just one shy of the single-game program record.
 
For the young season, Dickey leads the Aces in scoring at 12.5 points per game, while Ladd is averaging 12.0 points per game and is the team's leading rebounder at 13.5 boards per contest.  Junior Kat Taylor has distributed a team-best six assists and freshman Dakota Weatherford leads the squad with five steals defensively.
 
As a team, UE is averaging 65.5 points per outing and is shooting 29.9 percent from the floor, including a 19.1 percent clip from beyond the three-point line.  Evansville has connected on 40 of its 54 attempts at the free throw line (74.1 percent) and owns a +6.5 rebounding margin.  The Aces have forced 40 turnovers this season, while committing 31.
 
Missouri (2-0) opened its season with a pair of wins over Saint Louis and SIU Edwardsville, as the Tigers defeated the Billikens, 74-59, in their season opener, before topping the Cougars, 59-48, Sunday in Mizzou's home debut.  Kayla McDowell paced Missouri with 19 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Saint Louis, while Bri Kulas scored a team-high 16 points and Morgan Stock added 15 in the victory over SIUE.
 
McDowell leads the team in scoring with a 13.5 points per game average and Kulas has added 11.0 points per contest.  Jordan Frericks has been the top rebounder for the Tigers, grabbing 7.0 rebounds per outing, including a team-best three blocked shots.  Lianna Doty has paced Mizzou with 15 assists and six steals.
 
Missouri is averaging 66.5 points per game and has shot 35.9 percent from the field, making 46 of its128 shot attempts.  The Tigers has connected from long range at a 25.0 percent clip and are shooting 80.6 percent from the charity stripe.  Mizzou has committed 22 turnovers, while forcing 30 and is averaging 9.5 steals per and 4.5 blocks per game.
 
Missouri leads the all-time series with Evansville, 7-0, and defeated the Aces, 74-51, in the last meeting between the two teams during the 2011-12 season.
