COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Evansville women's basketball team fell to host Missouri, 78-43, Thursday night at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Mo., as the Tigers drained 15 three-pointers and held the Purple Aces to a 21.5 percent shooting effort.

Sara Dickey was the only Evansville (1-2) player in double figures, finishing 5-for-16 from the floor and 4-for-5 at the free throw line for 16 points. Fellow freshman Dakota Weatherford added seven points in the loss and classmate
Sasha Robinson grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Bri Kulas was the catalyst for Missouri's (3-0) offense early in the game, as she scored nine of the Tigers' first 11 points to give Mizzou an 11-7 advantage at the first media timeout.

Missouri used an 8-0 run to take an 18-7 lead, before
Mallory Ladd ended the run with a turnaround jumper at the 13:00 mark.

Poor shooting by Evansville and hot hands from Morgan Eye and Morgan Stock allowed the Tigers to build their lead to as many as 20 points in the opening stanza, as Eye knocked down one of seven first-half threes for Mizzou, giving the hosts a 35-15 lead with 3:53 remaining in the half.

The Aces closed the half on an 8-3 run, capped by a Dickey layup to close the gap to 38-23 at the intermission, as Missouri's defense held UE to a 25.0 percent shooting clip over the first 20 minutes, while connecting on 13 of its 29 first-half shot attempts (44.8 percent).

Mizzou went on an early run in the second half to put the game away, as it scored 13-straight points to open up a 53-26 advantage, while holding Evansville to an 0-for-10 effort from the field during the seven-minute span.

The Aces closed the gap to 24 points on three occasions, but would get no closer, as Missouri continued to extend its lead and led by as many as 38 with 1:59 to play en route to the victory.

The Tigers outrebounded UE, 53-34, and outscored Evansville, 20-12, inside the paint. Mizzou got 43 points from its bench, as four Missouri players finished in double figures, including Jordan Frericks, who posted a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds. Kulas finished with a team-high 16 points and Morgan Stock hit five triples for a 15-point night.

Evansville will return to action Sunday, Nov. 17, when it travels to San Jose State for a 4 p.m. game with the host Spartans.
