Softball Hits the Road Wednesday Against #7 Missouri

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
Evansville softball with take to the road to play in a doubleheader against #7 ranked Missouri on Wednesday, March 12, beginning at 1:00 p.m. CST in Columbia, Mo.
 
The Aces are coming off a huge weekend as they won five out of their six games, with wins against Bowling Green State, Murray State, and Southeast Missouri. Evansville improved to 6-9 on the season.
 
Sophomore Kayla Fortner leads Evansville with a .405 at the plate and a .529 on-base percentage while recording a total of eight runs, two doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 14 RBI’s on the season. Senior Kendall Kautz has been consistent at the plate as well as she has tallied a team best 15 RBI’s, two home runs, and three doubles overall. Senior Tamara Robey and sophomore Victoria Dellorto have been providing pressure on opposing defenses as they combine for a total of 19 stolen bases out of 21 attempts. Senior Alicia Betancur has also applied some pressure herself, going a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen bases while notching two doubles, one home run, and 5 RBI’s on the season.
 
Scouting the Opponent:
 
#7 Missouri (10-2, 1-1 Southeastern Conference)
Missouri enters this weekend series with a 10-2 record, with wins against #4 ranked Florida and #5 ranked Texas A&M. Nicole Hudson provides power at the plate for the Tigers with a .469 batting average out of her 32 appearances at bat. While recording an impressive six home runs, Hudson has notched 14 RBI’s, one double, 11 runs, two walks, a .833 on-base percentage, and has been perfect in her 1-for-1 stolen base attempts. Chelsea Thomas leads the pitching staff with 40.0 innings pitched while striking out 55 and recording two shutouts. Thomas has allowed just five runs in her six appearances and has a 0.88 ERA, making her 4-1 on the season.
