EVANSVILLE, Ind. – As the three-game series with Creighton came to an end, Evansville was defeated by the Bluejays, 6-4, as the Aces are now 1-2 in conference play.
Sophomore
Victoria Dellorto led the offense, going 2-for-3 at the plate while notching two RBIs and one run. Senior
Halie Malone went 1-for-3 at bat as she tallied one double for the Aces.
UE will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday, March 18-19, to host conference opponent Drake at Cooper Stadium in a three-game series. Monday will kick off a doubleheader against the Bulldogs as first pitch will be at 4:00 p.m. CST.
Game Recap: Creighton 6, UE 4
Evansville got an early lead in the bottom of the first inning as they scored three runs after an error and a single by Dellorto that put the Aces up, 3-0.
The Bluejays came back in the top of the third frame after a home run by Creighton’s Amy Baker tied the score, 3-3, as well as tied a Missouri Valley Conference record in career home runs at 52.
Creighton continued to score in the sixth after a pair of errors and a ground out to the pitcher drove in three runs, making it a 6-3 game.
After an error by Creighton, the Aces were able to score in the bottom of the sixth inning, making it 6-4.
The Aces were not able to get anything going in the seventh after a strikeout and pair of foul outs left one on base, allowing Creighton to take the 6-4 victory over Evansville.
Creighton pitcher Becca Changstrom, now 11-4, took the win as she pitched a complete 7.0 innings while striking out 10 and not allowing any runs.
UE reliever
Taylor Perry took the loss for the Aces as she struck out one and allowed one run in 1.1 innings, making her 2-1 on the season.
Sarah Patterson saw the start as she pitched 4.1 innings while striking out four and allowing three runs.
