Week Three Game Notes
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville softball team will open up at home this weekend against Austin Peay and IUPUI on Sunday, March 3.
Evansville will face Austin Peay at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday to begin the day before they finish against IUPUI at 3:00 p.m.

The Aces are currently 1-8 with a win against Jackson State last weekend in the Jackson State Tournament.
Sophomore
Kayla Fortner and senior
Halie Malone are currently leading the Aces with a .333 batting average and combine for a total of seven runs, one double, one triple, and one homerun. Senior pitcher
Sarah Patterson has the only win for Evansville in which she took last weekend against Jackson State where she pitched a complete game while striking out three and not allowing any runs.
Scouting the Opponents:
IUPUI Jaguars(5-8, 0-0 The Summit League) IUPUI enters this weekend series with a 5-8 record , with wins against Alabama State and Butler. The Jaguars were picked to finish seventh in the Summit League overall. Jessica Lam provides power at the plate with a batting average of .368 in her 38 appearances at bat. With a .789 slugging percentage, Lam has also racked up 12 RBI, five home runs, and one double on the season. Nikki Thomas leads the pitching staff this season with 28.2 innings in the circle, tallying a 3.77 ERA and 31 strikeouts. Thomas has recorded three complete games and one shutout while allowing 12 runs.
Austin Peay Governors (5-3, 0-0 Ohio Valley Conference)
Austin Peay enters this weekend series with a 5-3 record, with wins against East Tennessee, Trevecca, and Alabama A & M. Laurel Burroughs leads the Govs at the hitting position with a .577 batting average and 26 appearances at the plate. While recording four doubles and two triples on the season, Burroughs has tallied seven runs, hit two home runs, and notched 10 RBI’s on the season. Lauren de Castro leads the pitching staff this season with 27.0 innings pitched and a .78 ERA. De Castro has struck out 21 and recorded one shutout for the Govs, making her 3-1 on the season while allowing just three runs.
