Aces Softball Brings in Bradley for Three-Game Series

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
UE softball will play host to conference opponent Bradley for a three-game series at Cooper Stadium. The series will begin with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 13, as the first pitch will be thrown at 12:00 p.m. CST. The weekend will wrap up with a single game on Sunday also beginning at 12:00 p.m. CST.
 
The Aces are coming off an impressive 7-0 victory over Middle Tennessee State on Wednesday in which five players exceeded the .300 mark at bat while notching 10 hits, two doubles, and six RBIs.
 
While Evansville dips back into conference play this weekend against the Braves with a 4-7 record in the Missouri Valley Conference, UE has seen its seniors emerge at the plate as well as within the circle when competing against conference opponents.
 
Seniors Tamara Robey, Brianna Villanueva, and Halie Malone lead the team at the plate against the Valley as they combine for 12 runs, 29 hits, one double, two triples, six RBIs,14 walks, and 12 stolen bases out of 13 attempts. Senior pitcher Sarah Patterson holds a 2.37 ERA while grabbing three wins in four appearances against Wichita State and Northern Iowa. Patterson has struck out 31 in just 38.1 innings of work in the circle as well throwing a perfect game for the Aces.
 
The Bradley series will be broadcasted live on the radio at WUEV.org.
 
Scouting the Opponent
 
Bradley University Braves (20-17, 5-5 Missouri Valley Conference)
 
Bradley enters this weekend series with a 20-17 record, with wins against conference opponents Indiana State, Wichita State, and Creighton. The Braves were picked to finish seventh in the MVC Preseason poll.
 
Bailiegh Basham, who was named to the 2012 All-Tournament Team, leads the Braves at the hitting position with a .390 batting average out of 100 appearances at the plate. While recording five doubles and four home runs on the season, Basham has tallied 20 runs, notched 17 RBIs, two triples and 15 walks. With a .339 batting average out of 109 at-bats, Alyson Clemente also proves to be an offensive force for Bradley. Clemente has notched nine doubles, two home runs, 21 RBIs, one triple, two stolen bases, and 19 runs in all 37 starts.
 
Madeline Lynch-Crumrine, who was named to the 2011 and 2012 All-Conference First Team, leads the pitching staff this season with 146.2 innings pitched and a 2.91 ERA. Lynch-Crumrine has struck out 100 so far this season and has recorded 16 complete games with four shutouts for the Braves, making her 12-8 on the season.
