EVANSVILLE, Ind. – As part of its effort to assist in raising funds for Breast Cancer research, the Purple Aces softball team will hold a Home Run Derby Fundraiser on Wednesday, April 10 after the early afternoon double header against Middle Tennessee St.
Set for 5 p.m., or after the conclusion of the games at Cooper Stadium, the fundraiser is open to all UE students, faculty, and staff. The cost is just $5 to enter and all of the money raised will go towards the Breast Cancer Awareness game team will play on April 18.
The derby will feature two rounds with all pitches thrown in a front-toss format by UE players and staff members. Participants will allowed ten swings in round one and five swings in round two. Each round will also feature a random “money ball”, which will count for more points if it is a home run.
Entry fees may be paid in advance at the softball office in the Carson Center or upon arrival at Cooper Stadium on Wednesday. The winner of the derby will have the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at the softball game on April 13th at noon versus Bradley.
