EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville head women's basketball coach Oties Epps announced the addition of former Notre Dame standout guard Ashley Barlow to the Purple Aces' coaching staff Tuesday morning.  Barlow comes to UE after spending the last two seasons as an assistant at IUPUI.

"We are extremely excited to have Ashley joining our coaching staff," Epps said.  "She has a tremendous background in women's basketball and her experiences as a player and a coach will help boost our program on the recruiting trail and on the court.  Her energy and passion for helping young women become leaders will serve her well as an assistant coach in our program."

In her two seasons at IUPUI, Barlow worked with the guards and was in charge of travel and film exchange, while assisting with recruiting, scouting and game planning.  In 2012-13, Barlow helped guide the Jaguars to a 20-12 record and a berth in the Postseason WNIT.  In 2011-12, IUPUI posted a 13-19 mark and finished fifth in The Summit League.

"I am extremely excited to be a part of this coaching staff and to get to work with my former AAU teammate, FahKara Malone," Barlow said.  "I am also excited to get to work with the girls on this team and with Coach Epps to keep the program headed in the right direction.  He has a good thing going here and I want to be able to continue that."

Prior to her coaching career, Barlow completed a historical career at Notre Dame in 2010, where she emerged as one of the most versatile players in Fighting Irish women's basketball history.  She is the only player in Notre Dame basketball history, male or female, to eclipse 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 250 assists and 250 steals in a career.  Upon completion of her career, Barlow found her name etched among the top 10 on 12 of Notre Dame's career statistical records.

A native of Indianapolis, Barlow graduated from Notre Dame  in 2010 with degrees in management-entrepreneurship and sociology.  She played professionally in Israel for Elitzur Rishon Le-Zion during the 2010-11 season, where she averaged 20.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.4 steals per game.
