EVANSVILLE, Ind. – For the second-straight week, the University of Evansville men's soccer team will be on the road for a weekend tournament, as it will travel to Cincinnati, Ohio for the Bearcat Soccer Classic Friday and Sunday. The Purple Aces will play Northern Illinois Friday night at 5 p.m., before taking on host Cincinnati Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Evansville (0-1-1) opened the season last weekend at The Hotels at Grand Prairie Classic in Peoria, Ill., with a pair of double-overtime matches, playing Massachusetts to a scoreless draw, before falling to New Hampshire, 2-1. Senior

Eric Teppen made 15 saves on the weekend, including a career-high 12 against UNH.
As a team, the Aces attempted 35 shots last weekend, putting 19 of them on frame for a .543 shot on goal percentage. On the season, Causey leads the team with two points on his goal, while junior

Northern Illinois (1-1-0) opened its season by splitting a pair of matches last weekend with Cincinnati and Ohio State at the Wolstein Classic in Columbus, Ohio, topping the Bearcats, 3-0, before dropping a 2-0 decision to the Buckeyes. James Stevenson led the Huskies with three points on a goal and an assist. Issac Kannah and Bertrand Gaschot tallied the other two goals for NIU.
Andrew Glaeser and Miles Herbert split time in goal for Northern Illinois, as Glaeser made four saves and earned the clean sheet in the victory over Cincinnati, while Herbert took the loss and recorded a pair of saves in the loss to Ohio State.
Cincinnati (0-2-0) dropped both of its matches at the Wolstein Classic in Columbus last weekend, falling to NIU, 3-0, and UNC Wilmington, 1-0. Alan Rovira and Jonathan Cottrell each fired five shots to lead the Bearcats, with Rovira putting all five on goal. Goalkeeper Taylor Hafling made nine saves in the two contests, allowing four goals for a 2.00 goals against average and .692 save percentage.
As a team, UC was narrowly outshot, 22-21, and conceded 13 corner kicks.
Friday will mark the first ever meeting between Evansville and Northern Illinois in men's soccer, while the Aces hold a 5-1 advantage in the all-time series with Cincinnati. UE defeated the Bearcats, 2-0, last season at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
