ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Evansville Swimming & Diving teams competed against St. Louis today in a dual meet and the results were a split. The Lady Aces won by a score of 119-102 while the men's squad fell to the Billikens by a final of 149-66.
As the Aces traveled as a team to St. Louis they were unable to come away with a win for both squads. The Lady Aces continued to show improvements throughout the season especially the freshmen, specifically
Danielle Freeman.
Freeman continues to improve as the season goes on; in tonight's meet she finished first in two events, the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.05 and the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.17. Freeman wasn't the only Lady Ace to put on a strong performance tonight as junior
Michelle Tipton won two events of her own. Tipton finished first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:35.31 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:10.90.
On the men's squad, despite the loss, there were also a bunch of strong performances. Sophomore Ethan O'Rourke finished third in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:01.84 and senior diver
Mallet Reid finished first in the men's 1-meter diving with a score of 275.18.
The Aces men's squad will swim again on Sunday in the Butler Invite in Fishers, IN at 12:00 p.m. UE will swim in its next dual meet on Feb. 01 against Southern Illinois in Carbondale, IL which will take place all-day.
