EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The first of the spring sports gets underway with its 2014 slate as the University of Evansville women's tennis team heads to Middle Tennessee State for a 3 p.m. match on Saturday.
The Purple Aces are coming off of a solid fall season that was highlighted by the EKU Invitational in October. Evansville went 9-3 in the tournament as
Marketa Trousilova went a perfect 3-0, including a doubles win with
Natasha James.
Trousilova and James led the way in the final fall event, going a perfect 4-for-4 in singles play on the third and final day of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional. James posted a strong effort as she took third place at the Missouri Valley Conference Individual Championships in the first flight.
Leading the way in that event was
Marina Moreno, who finished second in her flight. She also performed well in the fall opener as she earned two singles wins and two doubles triumphs at the SIUE Invitational.
Mina Milovic was also solid in Edwardsville, going a perfect 3-0 in flight five singles.
In addition to the returning players from the fall, head coach Nick Mueller recently announced the addition of
Andjela Brguljan, who is a freshman from Croatia.
