EVANSVILLE, Ind. – After a strong showing in last weekend's opener at Middle Tennessee State, the University of Evansville women's tennis team takes to the road once again, heading southeast to Chattanooga, Tennessee for a pair of weekend matches.

Play begins on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET as UE takes on Lipscomb before wrapping up the weekend at noon on Sunday versus host Chattanooga.  Live stats for Sunday's match are available here: http://www.gomocs.com/fls/17700/wtenlive/xlive.htm.

The Purple Aces opened the spring season last weekend, falling at Middle Tennessee State by a 4-3 final.  The Blue Raiders took the early advantage by sweeping doubles play.  The Aces fought back in singles, taking three points before falling in the end.

One of the top performances at MTSU was Kelsey Costales, who took a 2-set win in the fifth flight.  She defeated Irina Constantinide, 6-3, 6-3.  In the second slot, it was Marketa Trousilova opening the season with a victory over Jesse Grace, 6-3, 7-5.  Evansville's other triumph came from Mina Milovic, who earned a win in three sets over Sarah Sediri, 4-6, 6-3, 10-2.

Saturday's opponent will be Lipscomb, who got off to a quick start in their opening weekend.  Following a 4-3 win over UT-Martin on Jan. 24, the Bisons kept it going a day later, topping Belmont by a 6-1 final.  Jenny Borck had a stellar effort last weekend for Lipscomb, going a perfect 4-0.  She teamed with Deahna Welcher at No. 1 doubles to take both matches while getting the job done in singles.  For her efforts, she garnered Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors.

Chattanooga opened its season on Jan. 20, taking a dominant 7-0 road win over Austin Peay.  Their match versus ETSU, which was set for the 24th, was cancelled.  In their season-opening win, the Mocs dominated in all facets.  The teams of Kayla Jones/Kaylene Chadwell and Kelsey Coots/Alexa Flynn each took 6-2 doubles wins.

Jones and Chadwell kept their momentum going into singles play, picking up victories at the first and second flights, respectively.  Jones took the wins 6-2, 6-1 and Chadwell finished up at 6-0, 6-1.
