WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The University of Evansville swimming and diving teams finished a successful meet on Saturday at the Indiana Intercollegiates. The women came home in fourth place while the men took ninth.

"It was a good meet," UE head coach Rickey Perkins said. "We swam off events and tried to find 3
rd events for many of the team members. I am happy with the way we raced."

Michelle Tipton was the top performer on the day for UE. She took the top spot in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 52.26. It was the top effort on the day for the Purple Aces. Tipton also recorded a top five finish in the 50 Free with a 24.37.

She was also part of the 200 Free Relay crew that took fifth place with a 1:39.34. Mackenzie Powell, Samantha Montgomery, Mackenzie Harris and Tipton had the top five outing.

Danielle Freeman had a strong day. The sophomore took fourth place in the 100 Butterfly with a 58.99 and was 9
th in the 200 Free with a 1:56.14. She was also part of the 200 Medley Relay team that was 4
th. Â She teamed with Michaela Kent, Caroline Lee and Abby Smith.

Courtney Coverdale led the divers. She took 7
th place in the 1M dive with a score of 212.80.

Leading the men was the team of Ashton Bishop, Troy Burger, Matthew Childress and Skyler Shinn. They came in 5
th place in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:28.21. In the 200 Medley Relay, Daniel O'Brien, Will Glasscock, Ethan O'Rourke and Everett Plocek took seventh with their time of 1:38.21.

Both teams will take a week off before welcoming back some of the top performers in program history for the annual Alumni Meet. It will be held at Wyttenbach Pool on Nov. 1.
