Aces host annual "Kick For A Cure" Match on Saturday

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville men's soccer team (2-6-1, 0-1-0) will hold their annual "Kick For A Cure" match on Saturday, October 4, when they host the Central Arkansas Bears at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
 
The Aces will don special pink colored jerseys for Breast Cancer Awareness. The match will begin at 5:00 p.m.
 
Evansville enters this match after losing their MVC season opener to SIU Edwardsville 2-0 on Monday, September 29. Senior goalkeeper Eric Teppen made six saves in the home contest.
 
Senior defender Charlie Macias has a team-best four goals this season for the Purple Aces. Junior midfielder Faik Hajderovic, junior midfielder Mark Anthony Gonzalez, and senior forward Nick Schroeder each have two goals scored this year.
 
Teppen has recorded 40 saves for UE this season and has a .727 saves percentage. He has played in all nine of the Aces matches this year.
 
As a team, Evansville is averaging 11.9 shots per game and 1.33 goals per match. The Purple Aces have also taken 32 corner kicks this season.
 
Central Arkansas (2-6-0, 0-1-0) has lost six consecutive matches including their MVC season opener to Missouri State 1-0 on September 19. The Bears also lost 1-0 in their last match against the University of Memphis on Tuesday, September 30.
 
Sophomore midfielder Wes Carson has a team-best two goals for Central Arkansas this year. The Bears have three other student athletes who have totaled their only other three goals this season.
 
Senior midfielder Logan Miller has the most shots this year for Central Arkansas with 17. Carson is the only other teammate with double digit shots; He has 10 for the Bears this year.
 
Freshman goalkeeper Harrison Veith has played every minute this season for the Bears. Veith has a .725 saves percentage and has allowed 1.38 goals per game this year. He also has one shutout this season.
 
The Bears have been outscored 11 to 5 this season and outshot 104-60.  
 
Central Arkansas is 0-4-0 on the road this year. Evansville is 2-3-0 at home this season.
 
The Purple Aces lead the all-time series 5-0-1 against the Bears. The first meeting between the teams was in 2006, a UE 3-1 victory. The only non-loss for the Bears in the series was a 0-0 tie against Evansville in 2011. The Purple Aces have won back to back meetings, both 1-0 victories.
