Kevin Schafer on Senior Day to defeat the Loyola Ramblers 2-1 on Saturday night.

After Loyola had scored the tying goal in the 81
st, Evansville responded with a kick into the six yard box for Schafer who headed the ball in for the game winner.

Prior to the match, Evansville honored nine seniors by bringing the student athletes and their families on to the pitch. The seniors honored were

Joel Craig,
Patrick Hodges,
Charlie Macias,
Luis Romero,
Nick Schroeder,
Kevin Schafer,
Dylan Terry and
Eric Teppen.

Loyola began the match by outshooting Evansville 6-4 in the opening half but neither team was able to score a goal in the first 45 minutes.

Out of halftime, UE went on the offensive and scored the go-ahead goal in the 50
th minute. Junior forward

Jared Robinson combined on a pair of passes to junior midfielder
Mark Anthony Gonzalez at the top of the 18 yard box. Gonzalez received the pass, shot, and scored in the bottom left corner of the net for the 1-0 Aces lead. It was the sixth goal of the season for Gonzalez.

Loyola trailed 1-0 until the 81
st minute when UE committed a foul on the endline that resulted in a penalty kick for the Ramblers. Kyle Thomson took the penalty kick for Loyola and scored past a diving goalkeeper Eric Teppen to the right side of the net. Thomson evened up the match on his second goal of the season.

After Schafer's goal in the 83
rd minute pushed UE ahead 2-1, the Aces did not allow a shot over the final moments to prevail for the one goal win.

The victory is the fourth straight conference victory for the Aces.

Faik Hajderovic led Evansville with two shots in the match.

Teppen had one save in the victory.

Evansville closes out the regular season with a road match at Missouri State on Saturday, November 8 at 7:00 p.m. The Purple Aces are currently second in the Missouri Valley Conference standings. The top two seeds receive a bye from the opening round games which begin on Friday, November 12.
