Khristian Hart scored a game-high 26 points off the bench as the University of Evansville women's basketball team (1-1) lost 76-70 at Ball State on Wednesday night.

Hart's 26 points are the most for the guard since January 2013 when she tallied a career-high 28 points against Missouri State.

Evansville also received a 19 point game from sophomore guard
Sara Dickey and a 13 point, 9 rebound effort from senior forward
Mallory Ladd.

UE never led in the contest, falling behind 9-2 in the opening few minutes. The Purple Aces rallied back with a 9-3 run, including seven points from Hart.

Ball State then surged back, increasing the lead back to six points on a Shelbie Justice layup with 8:54 remaining in the first half. Evansville had an answer, though, as the Purple Aces evened the score at 20 with a
Peyton Langston jumper at the 6:03 point of the opening half. It was the lone basket for Langston who was 1-for-10 in the contest.

Shortly after UE tied the game, Ladd incurred her second foul and was relegated to the bench with teammate
Sasha Robinson, who also had two fouls. Ball State took advantage of the two forwards on the bench by finishing the half on a 17-7 run, building a double digit 37-27 advantage.

Out of the break, Evansville lowered the deficit to four with a 7-0 run over a one minute 44 second stretch. Ladd scored eight points in the first five minutes of the half, bringing UE within a 43-39 measure.

Ball State responded by immediately going on another 7-0 run for a 52-41 lead at the 12:03 mark of the second half.

UE brought the difference back to two points when Dickey made a pair of free throws with 6:42 left in regulation.

Ball State carried the advantage back to six points with 5:02 to go, only to watch as Evansville pulled within two on a Dickey three at the 2:15 point. UE would be unable to get closer than two the rest of the way as the Cardinals finished the game on a 9-5 run.

Evansville will continue their five game road trip on Friday, November 21 at IPFW. The tip is set for 6:00 p.m. at the Hilliard Gates Sports Center.
