EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville men's soccer player Mark Anthony Gonzalez was named to the 2014 NSCAA / Continental Tire NCAA Division I All-West Region team on Wednesday.
The junior midfielder was selected to the Second Team after leading the Purple Aces offense with a team-high six goals, 15 points and two game-winning goals this season.
"Mark is a dynamic player who can unbalance a team's defense in a number of different ways," said head coach Marshall Ray. "He is a catalyst for our team and makes players around him better due to the space he creates with his movement on and off the ball. To be honored as an All-Region player speaks volumes for the respect other coaches have for him. I am looking forward to his continued growth as a teammate and player as we prepare for the 2015 season."
Gonzalez was also named to the NSCAA / Continental Tire NCAA Division I All-Midwest Second Team last year and was on the All-MVC First Team this season as well.
