EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Evansville men's basketball player D.J. Balentine was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
The junior guard averaged 25 points per game this past week, piloting the Purple Aces to a pair of victories. He started the week with a season-high 28 points in a win over Wright State. He drained 9 out of 13 shots, all three triples and 7-of-9 free throws. He also dished out three assists as the team shot 66.7%.
Balentine followed that up with a 22-point effort versus IUPUI as UE took an 89-62 triumph. He had three more triples and assists. For the week, he posted 25 points while shooting 56.8% (17/29). He hit six out of eight triples and 10 out of 12 free throws.
UE is 6-1 this season, their best start since 1988.
The Aces are back in action at Belmont on Tuesday, December 9. The game is set for 7:00 p.m. CT in Nashville, Tenn.
