FULL RESULTS
CARBONDALE, IL. – The University of Evansville swimming & diving team fell to Southern Illinois on Saturday afternoon in their last meet before Championship season starts. The Lady Aces fell to the Salukis by a score of 156.5 to 86.5 and the Aces men's squad fell by a score of 186 to 45.
Although the Aces fell there were still plenty of bright spots from today's meet. Junior
Michelle Tipton finished second in the women's 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.15 and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.01. Tipton wasn't the only strong performer on the women's squad, as freshman
Danielle Freeman continued to shine. Freeman finished first in the women's 25-yard freestyle with a time of 11.83 and first in the women's 50-yard butterfly with a time of 26.40.
For the men's squad the Aces top performer of the day was junior
Ashton Bishop, who's had a terrific season so far for UE. Bishop finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.73 and fifth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 53.00.
The Salukis top performers of the day were Luisa Silveira who won the women's 50-yard freestyle and Oleg Rabota who won the men's 100-yard butterfly.
The Lady Aces will look to bounce back when they travel back to Carbondale, IL to the MVC Championships on Feb.13-15. The men's squad will compete in the MAC Championships on Mar. 06-08 in Buffalo, NY.
