EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville men's soccer team has added
Jeremy Clark to its coaching staff as an assistant coach, as announced by head coach
Mike Jacobs Tuesday morning.
"I am excited to be joining the University of Evansville staff," Clark said. "I am very thankful for the opportunity that head coach Mike Jacobs has given to me and I am looking forward to working with the team, and helping meet our future goals."
A native of Sterling Heights, Mich., Clark graduated from Michigan State University in 2011 and joined the Spartan coaching staff prior to the 2012 season. Clark worked with the MSU goalkeeping corps, managed the team's social media networking initiatives and helped with travel planning and day-to-day practice plans. In addition, he was responsible for on-campus recruiting, daily operations of the soccer office and summer camp preparation.
"We are extremely excited to add Jeremy to our coaching staff," Jacobs said. "He brings a wealth of experience as an integral role on some very successful Michigan State teams as both an assistant coach and as a former player for the Spartans. Fresh off a strong 2013 NCAA Tournament run, we are looking forward to him keeping that string of success going here at UE."
As a student-athlete at Michigan State, Clark earned the starting goalkeeper job and was voted a team captain as a redshirt senior, playing every minute in goal. During his senior campaign, he posted a .802 save percentage and 0.94 goals-against average, earning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors or a pair of occasions. Clark was also part of the 2010 squad that make a remarkable run to the NCAA Sweet 16, before falling to North Carolina in penalty kicks. Over his five seasons at MSU, Michigan State went 55-34-14 and made three trips to the NCAA Tournament (2008, 2009, 2010).
Following his collegiate career, Clark joined the Detroit City FC of the National Premier Soccer League in the summer of 2012, helping Le Rouge to a 17-4-6 overall record in two seasons. Clark also coached with TNT Soccer in Lansing, Mich., and the Michigan ODP staff. He holds a USFF National "C" Coaching License and graduated with a bachelor's degree in sociology from Michigan State.
