2/20/2014 4:30:00 PM

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – With the cancellation of last week's home match versus Eastern Illinois, the University of Evansville women's tennis team will open up its home slate with a pair of matches this weekend.

On Friday, UT Martin makes the trek to Evansville while Murray State comes in a day later.  Both contests begin at 7 p.m. and will take place at Tri-State Athletic Club.

Last weekend, the Aces fell to 0-5 on the season despite a hard-fought effort at SIU Edwardsville.  The team opened up by taking the doubles point as the duos of Mina Milovic/Natasha James and Marketa Trousilova/Marina Moreno picked up doubles wins.

In singles play, Evansville earned a pair of wins as James earned a triumph at flight two and Kelsey Costales was victorious in the fifth slot.

UT Martin has played just two matches so far, falling at Lipscomb by a 4-3 final before taking a 5-2 defeat against Central Arkansas on Sunday.  The Skyhawks are paced by senior Ivon Simic, who led the way with eight singles wins and nine doubles victories a season ago.

The Racers have split their first six matches of the season, going 3-3 with wins over Lindsey Wilson, Arkansas State and Central Arkansas.  Last Saturday, Murray State earned a 6-1 triumph over UCA before falling by a 4-3 final to MVC foe Southern Illinois in Carbondale.  They faced #33 Memphis on Feb. 7, falling by a 5-0 final.

Andrea Eskauriatza has been the Racers' top performer this year, going 4-2 in the spring whiel finishing fall tournament play with an 8-1 mark.  In doubles, she has teamed with Erin Patton to win five out of six contests in 2014.
