Day One Results
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – Freshman
Kayla Katterhenry finished round one in the top five as the University of Evansville women's golf team is tied for sixth place at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate.
Katterhenry led the Purple Aces contingent at Sevierville Golf Club with a 4-over 75 in the opening round of play on Monday. She posted a 38 on the front nine before finishing the final nine holes with a 37. She enters the final round five shots off the lead.
Fellow freshman
Maggie Camp continued her strong start to the spring, finishing Monday's action in a tie for 21
st with an 81. She finished just ahead of
Cathy Doyle, who is tied for 25
th with an 82.
Paige Crafton carded an 85 on Monday while
Dana Hayden finished the day with a 103. In her round as an individual,
Sydney Skiles recorded an 83 to tie for 30
th place. She was the second-highest individual on the day.
Murray State sits atop the leaderboard with a 315 as the top five teams are separated by just five shots. The Racers sit two strokes ahead of Marshall University while Eastern Kentucky (318), West Georgia (319) and Indiana State (320) round out the top five.
Evansville and Belmont sit in a sixth place tie with a 323.
Delaney Howson of Murray State leads the way for the individuals as she finished the first round with a 1-under 70. It was the lone sub-par round of the day. Rachel Thompson (Marshall) and Marissa Uradomo (Indiana State) are tied for second with rounds of 74. Katterhenry is tied for fourth with her round of 75.
Tomorrow, the squads take to the course for the final round of 18 at Sevierville Golf Club.
