BUFFALO, NY. –
The University of Evansville Purple Aces men's swimming & diving team closed out its 2013-2014 season with a seventh place finish at the Mid-American Conference Championships this afternoon in Buffalo, NY.
 
Coach Rickey Perkins was very proud of his team:
 
"I am very proud of this team. They gave no excuses for things that were out of their control and continued to fight and compete with their hearts. Every single guy had a life-time or a season-best time. They competed like warriors and I am extremely proud to be their coach."
 
Preliminary Events
The final day of MAC Championships started out with the 200-yard backstroke prelims. The preliminary round saw Ethan O'Rourke finish in 15th place with a time of 1:52.08, qualifying him for the finals, Reid Mobley finish in 18th with a time of 1:54.94 and Garrett Johnson finish 21st overall with a time of 1:57.72.
 
Ashton Bishop finished 14th overall in the 100-yard freestyle prelims with a time of 45.75, qualifying him for the finals. Cameron Wickes finished 28th overall with a time of 47.42, Phil Stevenson finished in 30th with a time of 47.92, Matthew Childress finished in 31st with a time of 48.48, and Skyler Shinn finished in 33rd with a time of 49.17.
 
Troy Burger, who already set a UE school record in the 100-yard breaststroke yesterday, finished in 13th overall in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:04.22 and Will Glasscock finished in 14th with a time of2:06.70, qualifying both for the finals. Conor Sprick finished in 17th with a time of 2:10.08 and Wade Mobley finished in 21st with a time of 2:16.24.
 
The 200-yard butterfly prelims saw Carder Labrake finish in 21st with a time of 1:55.92, Chris Weisheit finish in 24th with a time of 1:57.93, Daniel Musselwhite finish in 25th with a time of 1:59.11 and Thomas Steele finish in 26th with a time of 1:59.74.
 
Finals Day 3 Results
The finals on day three started with the 1650-yard freestyle. Freshman Andrew Cotton finished in 16th with a time of 16.37.70 and Matthew Newland finished in 19th with a time of 16:56.18.
 
Ethan O'Rourke finished in seventh (15th overall) in the B-Finals of the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:51.48.
 
The 100-yard freestyle saw junior Ashton Bishop finish fifth (13th overall) in the B-Final with a time of 45.58.
 
Junior Troy Burger broke another Evansville school record in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:03.09, good enough for second (10th overall) in the B-Finals and Will Glasscock finished 15th overall with a time of 2:07.51.
 
The last event of the championships was the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Ethan O'Rourke, Cameron Wickes, Carder Labrake and Ashton Bishop finished in seventh with a time of 3:07.14.
