Aces to take on Cougars in mid-week non-conference game

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville softball team is set to travel to Edwardsville, Ill., to take on the SIUE Cougars in a single game on Thursday, April 24, with the game set to begin at 5:00 p.m.
 
UE played Missouri Valley Conference rival Southern Illinois on Tuesday evening and the Aces got a much-needed win in conference play. The Purple Aces sit at 17-28 on the season with a 5-15 conference record.
 
SIUE has gone 4-1 in its last five games, including winning four in a row. The Cougars are now 24-19 and have a 16-3 Ohio Valley Conference record.
 
Freshman Chandra Parr has been on a hot-streak for Evansville, as the outfielder has hit six homeruns in her last ten games giving her a team leading 10 on the season. With her most recent homerun against the Salukis on Tuesday, Parr moves into the top five in the Evansville Single Season Record Book and also tied for second in the MVC. Parr also has a team leading six HBP and has been walked 14 times.
 
Briana Combs picked up her fourth win of the season against SIU and Megan Gurski got her second save of the season. Gurski has been Evansville's stud in the circle, throwing 127.1 innings, striking out 115 and has thrown seven complete games.
 
For the Cougars freshman Whitney Lanphier has a.268 batting average, a .344 on-base percentage and a .429 slugging percentage this season to go along with two homers and 16 RBI.
 
Haley Chambers has been the workhorse for SIUE, as she has a 1.98 ERA, throwing 180.2 innings, striking out 191 and throwing 21 complete games. Chambers has a 15-12 record and also has one save.
 
After the mid-week single game against SIUE, Evansville will head to Chicago, Ill., to take on MVC opponent Loyola in a weekend series.
