4/25/2014 10:17:00 AM

ST. LOUIS – A pair of University of Evansville women's tennis players were honored by the Missouri Valley Conference for their work on and off the court on Thursday evening at the annual awards banquet in Normal, Ill.

Kelsey Costales earned a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team while Marketa Trousilova earned a pair of honors.  For the second time in as many seasons, Trousilova was named to the MVC All-Select Team while also notching a spot on the Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention squad.

Costales, a senior for the Aces, earned her first MVC Scholar-Athlete honor.  The communications major has posted a 3.428 GPA in her time at Evansville.  She has been extremely active in the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and began serving as the MVC SAAC representative in the summer of 2013.

Since teaming up with Natasha James this spring at No. 1 doubles, the duo has gone 12-5.  They also won four out of six league matches this spring.

Trousilova had a stellar season for the Aces, combining to go 20-9 in singles play and 21-8 in doubles.  Her efforts excelled in dual action in the spring.  She has gone 13-6 in singles while going on a roll in her last 14 doubles tilts.  After joining Marina Moreno, the duo has gone 13-1 while winning seven matches in a row entering the MVC Team Championship.

In the MVC, her efforts have been just as impressive.  She is 4-1 in league singles matches while posting a 5-1 mark in doubles, all coming with Moreno.  Their lone loss was an 8-7 defeat at Southern Illinois in the conference opener.

Last season, Trousilova earned a pair of MVC postseason honors.  She and James were named to the All-Conference Team and No. 1 doubles while she also earned a nod on the All-Select Team.  She was 15-3 in singles and 16-3 in doubles in the spring of 2013.

Also a communications major, Trousilova has posted a 3.688 GPA since arriving at UE for the spring semester of 2013.
