EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville softball team is set to travel to Bowling Green, Ky., to take on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in a single game on Tuesday, April 29 at 5:00 p.m.
UE is sitting at 18-30 on the season and has a 6-17 record in Missouri Valley Conference play. WKU is 31-20-1 and has a 10-8 record in the Sun Belt Conference.
The Aces have gone 0-2 against the Hilltoppers over the past two years, with last year's game being a 2-6 loss.
Evansville will enter the game offensively behind
Megan Gurski,
Chandra Parr and
Emma Buckles. Gurski has been the Aces best offensive threat all season, hitting .359 to go along with seven homeruns, 27 RBIs, six walks and a .388 on base percentage. Parr has been on-fire as of late; she has a team leading 10 homeruns, 29 RBIs and has been walked 14 times. Parr is now sitting tied for second in the MVC in homers. Emma Buckles has been the Aces best base stealer; she has a team leading 12 and is hitting .280.
Megan Gurski has also been the best pitcher for Evansville, throwing 139.0 innings, striking out 119 and allowing only 87 runs. She has a 3.73 ERA and a 9-13 record with eight complete games and two saves.
WKU enters the game behind Brooke Holloway and Preslie Cruce. Holloway has a team leading six homeruns and has 67 total bases including a .453 slugging percentage. Cruce is hitting .302 and has five homeruns and 27 RBIs.
The Hilltoppers best pitcher has been Emily Rousseau. Rousseau has a 2.80 ERA, has struck out 153 batters in 197.2 innings of work and has a 16-14 win-loss record, including 20 complete games.
After the single game against WKU, the Aces will host the Missouri State Bears in the final conference series of the season.
