Eric Teppen made five saves on the night, marking his 248th career save, tying him with Trey Harrington atop the Purple Aces' career saves list.

Defense was the theme of the match in the early going, as the two sides combined for just six shots in the opening half with Saint Louis (4-1-0) taking five of them. The Billikens attempted the first two shots of the night, before a header from
Chris Shuck sailed over the crossbar in the 31st minute. In addition, SLU earned four first-half corner kicks to Evansville's (1-3-1) one.

Saint Louis broke through with first goal of the match just over a minute into the second half, when Raymond Lee scored following a pair of passes from Kingsley Bryce and Marco Heskamp.

The Billikens quickly doubled their lead, when David Grayson found the back of the net following an assist from William Hidalgo in the 53rd minute, as SLU continued to apply pressure and attempted the first six shots of the second half. However, Evansville quickly responded, as
Charlie Macias scored his fourth goal of the season just over 30 seconds later to cut the Saint Louis advantage to 2-1.

The Billikens pushed their advantage back to two goals in the 76th minute by taking advantage of a set piece, when Anthony Manning headed in a corner kick service from David Graydon, making the score 3-1 in favor of SLU.

Shuck put a header on goal in the 88th minute, but Saint Louis goalkeeper Sascha Otte was there for save on what was only the Aces' second shot on goal.

For the match, the Billikens outshot UE, 16-7, put eight shots on goal and posted a 9-3 corner kick margin.

Offensively, Shuck led Evansville with his two shots, while five other Aces combined for UE's seven shots. Lee led all players with five shots and three shots on goal for SLU.

Three of Teppen's five saves came in the second half with the record-tying save coming on a shot by Lee in the 65th minute.

Evansville will return to the pitch Friday, Aug. 19, when it hosts Mercer at 7:30 p.m. on the first day of the ProRehab Aces Soccer Classic. Bradley will play Marshall at Arad McCutchan Stadium in the opening match of the tournament at 5 p.m., and the tournament will conclude Sunday, Aug. 21, when Bradley plays Mercer at 1:30 p.m. and the Aces take on Marshall at 3:30 p.m.
