EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – Freshman
Kennedy Craig along with the duo of
Marketa Trousilova and
Marina Moreno won their respective flights as the Purple Aces women's tennis teams wrapped up their season-opening SIUE Fall Invite on Sunday.

The University of Evansville swept past Western Illinois in doubles play as the flight two pair of Trousilova and Moreno won the tournament with their 6-2 victory over Arianna Demos and Courtney Lubbers. Moreno and Trousilova were a perfect 4-0 on the weekend.

In the top flight,
Natasha James and
Mina Milovic earned their second win of the weekend. They topped Jenna Wallace and Nicole Jones, 6-0. At flight three, it was
Andjela Brguljan and
Gaby Fifer earning a 6-1 win over Jamee Hale and Andriana Johnson.

Singles play for UE finished up on Sunday morning as the Aces faced off against Saint Louis. Highlighting the weekend was true freshman Kennedy Craig, who was a perfect 4-0 en route to the tournament championship at flight five. She finished the tournament with the win over Madison Cook, 7-6, 6-4.

As a team, Evansville earned wins in four of the seven flights over the Billikens. In the second flight, James defeated Natalia Yacaman, 6-0, 7-5 while Moreno was victorious in flight four, beating Brooke Urzendowski, 6-3, 7-6. Milovic picked up a win at No. 7 singles, earning the win over Taylor Monken, 6-1, 6-1.

At the top flight, Aspen Cervin topped Trousilova, 6-0, 6-1. Kelsey King got past Brguljan in the third flight, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 and Maira Toro defeated Fifer in the sixth flight, 6-2, 6-3.

In two weeks, the Aces will host the UE/USI Fall Invite. It will take place on Sept. 26 and 27.
