EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Over 120 student-athletes were honored on Thursday as the University of Evansville held its 7^th Annual Student-Athlete Academic Honors Breakfast, which was sponsored by Heritage Federal Credit Union.
 
"Each year, the Student-Athlete Academic Honors Breakfast is an opportunity to celebrate the academic achievement of our student-athletes as well as thank those individuals who make a significant impact in the student-athlete experience," said Sarah Solinsky, Senior Associate Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator.
 
"From our coaches recruiting outstanding student-athletes who compete in the classroom, to our faculty who are supportive in accommodating the challenges with missed class time due to competition, and our academic advising team providing the support services, the student-athlete experience is greatly enhanced by these collective efforts."
 
Evansville finished 2nd in the MVC with a 3.302 GPA, narrowly missing a third consecutive MVC Academic Excellence Award by just .003.  Equally impressive was the fact that 49% of the student-athletes at UE earned a 3.5 in at least one semester during the 2013-14 academic year.
 
Held on Thursday morning, the breakfast featured speakers Dr. Tom Kazee, Director of Athletics Mark Spencer, Steve Bugg of Heritage Federal Credit Union and women's basketball player Khristian Hart.
