EVANSVILLE, Ind. – In its second event of the fall, the University of Evansville women's tennis team went undefeated in competition against USI, Austin Peay and the University of Charleston on Friday at Wesselman Park as part of the UE/USI Fall Invitational.
As a team, the Purple Aces played two doubles matches and one round of singles. Evansville faced Charleston in its singles action, going a perfect 7-0. Flight one saw
Natasha James deal the loss to Toni Katipa, 6-0, 6-1.
Marketa Trousilova kept it rolling in the second flight, defeating Kelsey Hensley, 6-1, 6-1.
In the third flight,
Andjela Brguljan topped Ana Pena, 6-1, 6-1 while
Marina Moreno beat Marieve Edwards in the fourth flight, 6-3, 6-2. Flight five saw
Kennedy Craig defeat Jackie Bakos, 6-2, 6-3 while
Gaby Fifer earned the win over Taylor Todd in the sixth flight, 6-2, 6-3.
Mina Milovic played in the seventh flight, defeating Courtney Pierron, 6-2, 6-0.
Doubles play saw Evansville face Austin Peay and USI. At the top flight, Trousilova and Moreno defeated Ornella DiSalvo/Vanessa Tavares of Austin Peay by an 8-1 final while topping Elizabeth Wilm and Ashlee Hasson of USI, 8-0.
Flight two featured James and Brguljan, who beat Hannah Tatlock/Brittney Covington of APSU, 8-3 while earning an 8-4 victory over Kelsey Shipman/Brenna Wu of the Screaming Eagles. Craig and Milovic kept the perfect day rolling in flight three doubles. They topped Jovana Karac of Austin Peay and Taylor Youell of Charleston by an 8-0 final. APSU had just five doubles participants as Youell took the sixth spot. Against USI, Craig and Milovic earned an 8-4 win over Elizabeth Skinner and Miranda Camp.
