MEN'S RESULTS

CHARLESTON, Ill. –
Both the men's and women's cross country teams earned fourth place efforts in their respective races as the University of Evansville competed at the Eastern Illinois University Walt Crawford Open on Friday at the EIU Panther Trail.

A pair of seniors led the way for both teams as Alyssa Moran took 18th place in the 5K race while Josh Genet came home 12th in UE's first 8K race of the fall.

Moran circled the course in a time of 19:35.42.  It was her top 5K time in almost two years and her fourth-best overall time in collegiate 5K races.  Next up for Evansville was Laurel Wolfe, who came in 23rd out of 132 runners.  She finished in 19:46.50.

After leading the way for the Aces in last week's Belmont Opener, Elizabeth Kingshott came home 30th on Friday with her time of 20:04.59.  She was followed by Kirsten Perrey, who ran the 5K race in a time of 20:16.08.  Rounding out the top five was Loren Oboikovitz.  The junior tallied a 49th with her 20:47.09.  In the first two outings of the season, Oboikovitz has run her two best races.  She opened the year with a PR time of 20:32.09 before runner the second sub-21 minute race of her Evansville career.  Entering the season, her previous top time was a 21:01.04 in last year's UE Invitational.

A trio of Aces came in 70th through 72nd, led by sophomore Anna Loef.  She finished the race in 22:11.20.  Sophie Etienne completed the event with a time of 22:17.02 and was followed by Michelle Karp.

As a team, the Aces came home in fourth place.  The squad scored out just five points behind MVC rival and perennial power Southern Illinois and also came home 54 points ahead of fellow Valley squad Missouri State.

On the men's side, a pair of familiar faces finished atop the Aces leaderboard.  Josh Genet ran a 27:04.40 en route to a 12th place effort.  It marked the third year in a row that Genet registered a top 12 race at Eastern Illinois.  Behind him was Matt Hamilton, who continued his solid running in his return this season.  Hamilton came in 31st with a 28:22.60.  A total of 131 runners were registered in the race.

Checking in with the top race of his young career was freshman Isaiah Frey.  His first collegiate 8K race saw him take 46th with a time of 29:06.20.  A pair of sophomores followed Frey on the chart, led by Benjamin Woolems.  He finished with a 29:28.70 while Ross Frondorf raced to the tune of a 30:30.10.  He finished in 62nd place.

Junior John Rodrick completed his first 8K race at UE.  His final time of 30:40.30 was good for 65th.

Evansville came in fourth place on the team side, finishing with 107 points.  They came in 17 points ahead of IPFW, who rounded out the top five.

The teams will have next weekend off before traveling north to West Lafayette, Ind. for the annual Indiana Intercollegiates.  The races will take place on Friday, Sept. 19.
