Aces look to extend winning streak at Southern Illinois on Sunday

CARBONDALE, Ill. –
The University of Evansville women's basketball team (9-7, 4-1) seeks their fourth straight win when the Aces play at Southern Illinois on Sunday, Jan. 18. The game will be held at SIU Arena and the tip is set for 12:05 p.m.
 
UE enters this game on a three game winning streak including a 62-50 victory at Illinois State on Friday night. The Aces received a game-high 24 points from guard Khristian Hart, who tied a season-high with nine made field goals in 13 chances. The Evansville native also was 4-for-6 beyond the arc. Guard Sara Dickey added 14 points as well.
 
During the winning streak, Evansville is holding opponents to just 44.7 points per game. The Aces have now held the opposition to 50 points or less in four games this year.
 
On the stat sheet, Evansville's Dickey leads UE with 18.0 points, 3.1 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Forward Mallory Ladd is second on the team with15.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Ladd is also first on the Aces with 14 blocks this season. Hart has also cracked double figures at 10.3 points per game. Forward Sasha Robinson owns a team-high 7.9 rebounds per game. UE is averaging 65.9 points and 33.4 rebounds per game. The Aces make 41.9% of their field goals, 38.3% of threes, and 64.9% at the free throw line.
 
Southern Illinois (9-6, 2-2) enters the Sunday matchup fresh off a 65-53 win over Indiana State at home on Friday. Forward Azia Washington tallied a team-high 16 points in the victory. Forward Dyana Pierre posted a double-double of 12 points and 15 rebounds as guard Rishonda Napier also netted 14 points as well.
 
Statistically, Napier leads the Salukis with 17.3 points per game and 49 assists. Pierre is also in double figures at 13.8 points and a team-best 10.4 rebounds per game. Forward Kylie Giebelhausen (21 blocks) and Pierre (16) have both registered double digit blocks this season. Guard Cartaesha Macklin and Napier each have 20 steals this season. Southern Illinois is averaging 66.9 points and 40.4 rebounds per game. The Salukis shoot 42.3% from the floor, 32.9% beyond the arc, and 66.4% at the free throw line.
 
Evansville is projected to finish fourth in the MVC preseason poll, their highest projection since 2008-2009. Southern Illinois was picked ninth in the preseason poll. Dickey and Pierre were both named to the MVC Preseason All-Conference team. The Aces are guided by fourth year head coach Oties Epps. Southern Illinois is led by head coach Cindy Stein in her second season at SIU.
 
The Salukis and Aces are tied 25-25 in the all-time series. Both home teams won the matchup against each other in the 2013-14 season.
