Evansville women’s basketball hosts UNI at home on Friday

EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
The University of Evansville women's basketball team (10-7, 5-1) begins a weekend at home when the Aces host the University of Northern Iowa Panthers on Friday night. The tip is set for 7:00 p.m. at the Ford Center in Evansville, Ind.
 
UE is 6-0 at home this season and has won 10 consecutive home games dating back to last season.
 
Evansville also has won four straight games after victories at Illinois State and Southern Illinois last weekend. Guard Khristian Hart led UE to a 63-58 win with 19 points at SIU on Sunday. Guard Sara Dickey and forward Sasha Robinson each scored 12 points each in the victory. The Aces shot 47.2% from the floor and 43.8% beyond the arc in the win.
 
During the winning streak, Evansville is holding opponents to just 48.0 points per game.
 
Hart is the reigning MVC Player of the Week after averaging 18.3 points per game in the Aces' three win week.
 
On the stat sheet, Evansville's Dickey (17.6 points per game), Ladd (15.3) and Hart (10.8) are all averaging double figures. Dickey also has the most assists (53) and steals (30) for UE this year. Ladd is notching a team-best 0.9 blocks per game. Robinson is securing 7.9 rebounds per game, a team-high. UE is averaging 65.7 points and 33.3 rebounds per game. The Aces make 42.2% of their field goals, 38.6% of threes, and 64.7% at the free throw line.
 
UNI (8-8, 4-1) lost their last contest 76-72 against Drake on Friday night. Guard Madison Weekly netted a team-high 26 points in the defeat.
 
Statistically, Weekly is the lone UNI starter to average double-figure points per game (14.9). Injured forward Jen Keitel has a team-best 7.6 rebounds per game. Guard Brooke Brown leads the Panthers with 43 assists this season. Guard Stephanie Davidson and Weekly are both tied for most steals this year with 19. UNI is averaging 63.9 points and 34.9 rebounds per game. The Panthers shoot 38.4% from the floor, 34.4% beyond the arc and 62.3% at the free throw line.
 
Evansville is projected to finish fourth in the MVC preseason poll, their highest projection since 2008-2009. UNI was voted second in the MVC preseason poll.  Dickey and Keitel were both named to the MVC preseason team. The Aces are guided by fourth year head coach Oties Epps as the Panthers are led by eighth year head coach Tanya Warren.
 
UNI leads Evansville 25-19 in the all-time series. The teams split both meetings last season with the home squad winning each matchup.
