EVANSVILLE, Ind. – For the final time this season, the University of Evansville men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete together at home as they are set to take on Saint Louis. The meet will begin at 2 p.m. at Wyttenbach Pool in the Carson Center.
Prior to the meet, Senior Day festivities will take place as 13 student-athletes, two trainers and a manager will be honored at approximately 1:50.
"We are very excited about the weekend," UE head coach Rickey Perkins said. "It will be special for both of our teams as it will be the last time they will both compete together at home. With such a large senior class, we expect an emotional day for everyone."
Saturday's meet will be a short format with 13 events taking place. It is also set up for short relays.
Evansville's women have not seen competitive action since the House of Champions meet in late November. In the final day there, Danielle Freeman broke the House of Champions record for the 100 free with a 51.19 in the prelims. The previous record was held by none other than current teammate Michelle Tipton, who set the mark in 2012.
The duo contributed to what would be a new school and meet mark in the 400 free relay. Freeman and Tipton teamed with Sam Montgomery and Abby Smith to set the bar high at 3:25.82. The previous mark, also held by UE, was a 3:28.48. It was just another day at the office for Tipton, who also took top honors in the 1650 free as she won by two seconds with a 17:08.51.
UE's men were had their first meet of the spring last weekend at Ball State. Ethan O'Rourke earned two of Evansville's four victories on the day. He took top honors in the 100 backstroke, pacing the participants with a time of 52.60. He followed that up with a win in the 200 backstroke, dominating the competition with a finish of 1:56.39. It was 3.33 ahead of second place.
