NORMAL, Ill. –
The University of Evansville women's soccer team (4-10-2, 2-2-1 Missouri Valley Conference) rallied from a one goal deficit for a 2-1 overtime victory at Illinois State (5-9-2, 2-3 MVC) on Sunday.

Trailing by one, UE freshman forward Sara Osinski evened up the match with an 80th minute score and sophomore forward Nicki Baham netted the game-winning goal in the 93rd minute to secure the Purple Aces' first road win at Illinois State since 1996.

"I felt our team played really well today," said Baham. "We never gave up even when we were down a goal. We continued to fight and have confidence in ourselves and in our teammates to win the game. We all knew how important this game was and we were able to come out with the win."

The Redbirds broke the scoreless tie with a Lauren Koehl goal in the 68th minute.

Down 1-0, UE tied the match on Osinski's 80th minute score. Her team-high third goal of the season created a 1-1 tie with just 10 minutes remaining in regulation.

The Redbirds had one more chance in the waning moments but junior goalkeeper Whitney Biggs made an 89th minute save on Paige Jarsombeck to force overtime.

Just three minutes into the first overtime period, Baham ran down a long ball and bested ILS goalkeeper Vanessa Niestrom for the 2-1 Aces win.

"I am very proud of the way the team battled today," said Evansville head women's soccer coach Krista McKendree. "We have been talking about being committed to competing for every ball and today that mentality paid off for them."

The goal for Baham was her first this season. Biggs recorded three saves in the win.

The Aces conclude the MVC regular season by hosting Missouri State on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 6:00 p.m. The match will be held at Arad McCutchan Stadium in Evansville, Ind.
