SAINT LOUIS – Five University of Evansville women's soccer players received postseason honors from the Missouri Valley Conference on Thursday evening. Juniors
Bronwyn Boswell and
Emily Richardson were selected First Team All-Conference as senior midfielder
Allie Arguello was recognized on the Second Team. Freshman forward
Sara Osinski and senior defender
Abby Springer both received honorable mention. Osinski was also named to the MVC All-Freshman team as well.
MVC Release "It is always nice for the other coaches to recognize our players' hard work and talent," said Evansville head women's soccer coach
Krista McKendree. "These young ladies have been instrumental to the team. At the end of the day, our whole team has to perform for individuals to get recognition, so these honors directly correlate to the work of the whole group as well as their individual performances."
Boswell started all 17 matches this season for UE, leading the Purple Aces with three goals and eight points. The midfielder from Frisco, Texas scored two goals, including the game-winner, against IUPUI (Sept. 13) and also recorded two assists as well. This is her second consecutive season being recognized First Team All-MVC.
Richardson also made 17 starts on the back line for Evansville. The defender from Elizabethtown, Ky. played a pivotal role in UE posting four shutouts this season. She also guided the Aces in yielding one goal or less in 10 matches this fall.
Arguello appeared in 15 matches, making 14 starts, for UE. The Las Vegas, Nev. native led the team in assists (three), while also finishing second in goals (two) and points (seven). She also netted the lone penalty kick for UE, a game-winner, in the 1-0 victory over Missouri State (Oct. 29).
Osinski made an immediate impact for Evansville, scoring a goal in her first collegiate match against Xavier (Aug. 21). The Noblesville, Indiana byproduct also tallied goals against Miami (Ohio) (Aug. 30) and an equalizer at Illinois State (Oct. 25).
Springer started all 17 matches this season for UE and played all 1576 minutes this season on the back line. Like Richardson, the Indianapolis, Ind. native helped the Aces yield just one goal during the team's current three game MVC winning streak, earning Evansville the #2 seed in the MVC Tournament. Springer was also recognized as the MVC Freshman of the Year, All-MVC First Team and All-Freshman team in 2012.
Evansville will host the MVC Tournament (Nov. 6-8) at Arad McCutchan Stadium. The Aces will play #6 UNI in the MVC Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 6 at 6:06 p.m.
"We still have more soccer to play," added McKendree, "and we are looking forward to trying to reach our team potential this weekend."
